Hugh Root, 83, of Flushing, Michigan, passed away after a short illness on October 6, 2022 at the home of his son. He was born March 8, 1939 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Harry Root and Mertie Root.
Hugh graduated from Flint Northern class of 1957. He worked for Chevrolet in skilled trades as a Tool and Die Maker until he retired after 42 years. Hugh was an avid snow skier who served in the National Ski Patrol at Mt. Holly for decades. He loved to swing dance and was a longtime member of the Great Lakes Swing Dance Club. He was a licensed civilian pilot and served as a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol.
Hugh was predeceased by his parents; wife, Beverly; and son, Hughie. He is survived by his son, Michael (Vheri) Root; his daughters, Laura (John) Yeros, Lynn (Leslie) Root, Pamela Truesdail, Jackie (John) McCready, Cynthia (Jeff) Myers, Barbara Morrison, 17 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Hugh will be interred at the Montrose Township Cemetery, Montrose, Michigan. |
