Mrs. Dorothy Green Gibbs affectionately called Dottie was the eldest daughter of nine children, born on November 11, 1929 to the late Mr. Fred N. Green, Sr., and Mrs. Latonea Edwards Green.
A native of Mobile, AL and a former resident of Chicago, IL, she currently resided in Flushing, MI for seven years. On Tuesday, November 22, 2022 she quietly departed this life at the age of 93 at her residence accompanied by her sister.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William Gibbs, dearest brothers and sisters; Alvin Green, Sr., Fred N. Green, Jr., Deborah Woulard and Evelyn Milton, an aunt Ella Russell and nephew Alvin Green, Jr. She was employed at the University of Chicago for a number of years and retired from the Illinois Department of Employment Security after 25 honorable years of service. Dottie's love and devotion to her family was immeasurable. She strongly believed and had faith in the "Goodness of God." She was greatly admired and loved by her family.
Dottie leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted family; sisters and brothers, Irma Johnson, Cassandra Hughes and Freeland Green all of Flint, MI; William (Dorothy) Green, Plano, TX; a host of loving nieces, nephews and other dear relatives, including a special niece Evie Milton, Columbia, MD, and cousin Darrell Russell, Roswell, GA.
Our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to McLaren-Flint (12th floor nurses), Harmony Cares Hospice Staff, nephew Pastor Sean Payne; Cedarwood coordinator/mgr. Roberta and residents; Pastor Bill and Crystal Creek Church; former caregivers James Milton and Genie Stephens (during her stay in Mobile, AL, 2010-2015).
A graveside service for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St, Flint, MI 48505.
