Potzmann, Clark August of Flushing MI, age 74 passed away suddenly on Sunday June 5, 2022 at Genesys Hospital. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO Clark is preceded in death by his parents Louise and Clark J. Potzmann. Clark is the beloved husband to Dorothy, brother to Carol Smith, father to Kristopher and Erik (Amanda), grandfather to Leo and Kara.
Clark moved to Michigan after graduating from University of Missouri at Rolla with an Engineering degree to work for General Motors. He started his career at Buick in Flint. He and his family then moved to Lake St. Louis, MO for a temporary assignment at the Wentzville Assembly Plant. After returning to Michigan, he worked at the Great Lakes Engineering Center in Flint, the Milford Proving Grounds, and the Warren Tech Center. Clark was passionate about his work and in 2013 ended his career at GM with 43 years of service.
Clark’s love was his family and friends, especially his sons and the two grandkids that called him Papa. He loved cars, traveling, golf, woodworking, skiing, football, and sports in general. He gave his time to Boys Scouts, refereeing, the Buick Retirees Club, the model T Ford Club, and Eastern Michigan Woodworkers. His love of life and the people in it made it a better place for all of us.
According to Clark’s wishes he will be cremated. There will be a funeral mass on Friday, June 17, 2022, at St. Robert Bellarmine in Flushing, at 11:00 with a memorial visitation from 10:00-11:00 there at the church. Join us for a luncheon at St. Roberts following the mass to celebrate Clark’s life. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Missouri University of Science and Technology Miner Alumni Association, Lambda Chi Alpha Housing Foundation, or University of Michigan Alumni Association.
