John LeVest Minton age 90 passed away March 25, 2022 at his residence. Funeral service will be held 12 noon, Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint, MI. Family will receive visitors Monday, March 28, at the funeral home from 2-7pm, and will receive visitors Tuesday from 11 am until time of service. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Pastor Joseph McKinnies officiating. John was born November 11, 1931, in Madison County TN, the son of Thomas and Dell Minton. John was joined in marriage to Mae Bell Elder in 1954. They came from TN to live in Flint, MI for employment with Buick Division of General Motors and together they had nine children. He also served in the National Guard and the Army Reserve. Mae Bell preceded John in death in 2014. The second born child was a son, Ronnie Lee Minton, born March 1956 - died Jan 1957. John is survived by children: Teresa Dillon (Steve) Durand, MI, Johnny Edwin Minton- Flint, MI, Marvin Dale Minton (Kimberly Loree) - Mt. Morris, MI, Glenda Sprague ( Troy)-Lapeer, MI, Sandra Lively ( John)-Grand Blanc, MI, Beverly Cormack - Davison, MI, James Minton (Alisha) – Pleasant View, TN, Naomi Smith (James) Gladwin, MI, ten grandchildren: Brian Arrowood, Jamie Minton Bennett (David), Mikayla Sprague, Jeremy Lively (Michelle), Kasandra Lively Hopper (Brandon) , Zachary Cormack, Alayna Minton, Adria Minton, Maely Minton and Caleb Smith and eight great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by wife Juanita Holland Minton June 21, 2021, parents: Thomas and Finnie Minton, sisters: Mary, Corda, Marie, Nancy, Maudine, brothers Thomas and Earl. |
