JONES, Cleta Virginia (Smith) – of Davison, age 89, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024 at Regency at Grand Blanc. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on a later date.
Cleta was born in Paragould, AR on July 1, 1934, daughter of the late James and Ethel (Wyles) Smith. Cleta moved to Flint in 1951 and graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1952. She married Russell Jones on May 23, 1953 and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2003. Cleta enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and anything historical. She made many quilts and gave them away.
Cleta is survived by her loving children, Teresa Hoffman, Mark (Laura) Jones and Greg Jones; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Francis Smith; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by daughter, Susan Northrup; brother, Bob Smith; and sisters, Jaunice CoBurn and Nelda Simpkins; and sister-in-law, Lillian Putman.
