Age 103, of Rose City, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at home with family by her side. A funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services, 1194 East Mt. Morris Road, Mt. Morris, Michigan. Reverend Bryan Thompson to officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Family will be present to receive friends Friday from 5:30pm until 8:00pm, and again on Saturday from 10:00am until the time of the service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Doris’ tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.
Doris Alberta Painter was born on July 23, 1922, in St. Louis, Michigan, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Mary (Woodcock) Ledrow. She attended Mt. Morris High School before beginning her career as an assembly line worker for ACDelco. After over 30 years of service, she retired in 1976. She married the love of her life, Thomas Russell Painter in 1948. Sadly, Thomas would precede Doris in passing on April 28, 1988. She was also a member of the Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother. To many of her family members, she was an angel sent by God.
In her free time, she enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud, as well as playing Euchre, Scrabble, and completing puzzles. Most of all, she found joy in spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children: Garneta Vaughan, James Painter; as well as many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years: Thomas Painter; her three children: Reuben Rose, Dale Rose, William Painter; her parents: Frank and Mary Ledrow; her grandchildren: Laura Lynn, Adelbert; her great-granddaughter: Jodi Cutler; and her siblings: Mary Ledrow, Garneta Ledrow, Frank Elwyn Ledrow Jr, and Donna Hovey. |
