REX (PIERCE), ROBERT A. Of Flint, age 90, died peacefully Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Wellbridge of Fenton.
Visitation is at 11 am Monday December 2, 2024 until the time of the service at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Monday at the funeral home, Pastor Timothy Pike officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Robert was born in Flint, Michigan on May 11, 1934, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Pierce and was adopted and raised by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Rex.
He was employed by General Motors as a die maker for 37 years. He enjoyed his years there making many friends who fondly called him Papa Smurf. He retired in 1992 and was a member of UAW Local #599.
On January 21, 1995 he married the love of his life Onalee A. Bradford in Flint.
He was a loving father and grandfather and was loved by all. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, cars, collecting Snoopy memorabilia and talking with others.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Harold and wife Betty Jo Rex, Charles and wife Stacey Rex and Danny and wife Brigitte Rex; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, step daughters, Georgia and husband Larry Deering, Cindy and husband Jim Baker, Nancy and husband Charles Keesler and Janet Colburn and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Onalee, his parents and siblings.
