BURNS, Guy Henry – of Burton, MI, age 88, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Friday, October 21, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Paul Mabry officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Smith Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Thursday, October 20, 2022 and 12-1 PM Friday, October 21, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation (Parkinson’s Research), www.michaeljfox.org, in Guy’s memory.
Guy was born in Flint, MI on May 25, 1934, son of the late Edward and Beulah (Fleming) Burns. He married Donna Drewett on December 5, 1959. Guy was a graduate of Otter Lake High School Class of 1952. He furthered his education earning a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. Guy retired from General Motors in 1984 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, fishing, spending time outdoors and trips to his cabin in Northern Michigan.
Guy is survived by his wife, Donna Burns; 3 children, Karen (Paul) Bristle, Karla (Ricky) Hemric and Greg (Andrea) Burns; 9 grandchildren, Andrew Bristle, Amanda (Eric) Quimby, Erica (Bradley) Milligan, Steven Hemric, John Hemric, Matthew Hemric, Allison Burns, Grady Burns and Ryan Burns; 3 great-grandchildren, Deserae, Zell and Vincent; sister, Alzina “JoAnn” Burd; brother, Larry Burns; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Beulah Burns; 4 siblings, Shirley Burns, Wayne Burns, Marguerite “Jean” Peterson and James Burns.
