PORRITT, Donnie - of Clio, formerly of Flint, age 72, died Monday, September 26, 2022, at McLaren Flint. Funeral service will be held 11AM Monday, October 3, 2022, at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Jim Reid officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 12PM until 7PM and Monday from 10AM until the time of service. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or Clio Eagles #3609.
Donnie was born October 15, 1949, in Flint, to the late Donnie and Betty (Brookshire) Porritt. He graduated from Flint Central High School with the class of 1967 and attended Mott Community College. Donnie worked at General Motors for 41 years prior to his retirement and was a member of the Clio Eagles #3609. On March 10, 1979, Donnie married his best friend, Roberta Ford, and together they shared 43 wonderful years of marriage. On November 6, 2020, Donnie and Roberta renewed their vows at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Donnie loved spending time with his family, going to the casino from time to time, and playing Candy Crush. He was known to be a calm natured, go-with-the-flow man who always offered a comforting presence to those around him. Above all, Donnie was well loved by many and will be deeply missed.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Roberta Porritt; Children: Thomas David (Karen) Niederquell Jr. and Rebecca Anne (Jason) Batterbee; Grandchildren: Joshua (Heather) Niederquell, Jessica (Tommy) Niederquell, David (Kat) Niederquell, Anthony Batterbee, Brenden Batterbee, Audrey Batterbee, and Katie Porritt; Many great grandchildren; Siblings: Carol Glenn (Porritt), Jean Tausch, Tom (Gail) Hawley, Dan (Pam) Hawley, Jim (Kim) Hawley; Beloved companion, Jake the Dog. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Donnie and Betty; Brothers: Bob Hawley, Robert Porritt, and Greg Porritt; Furry friends: Miley and Nemo. |
