Ronald was born September 18, 1941 in Flint, Michigan. Preceding him in death were his parents Jack and Eloise Mraz and his son Patrick Ronald Mraz. Ronald and Pamela Louise Betts were united in marriage on September 2, 1961.
Ronald graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1959 and General Motors Institute with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 1963. He earned his Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1977. Ronald continued working for GM for a total of 42 years, retiring from GM Powertrain in 2001.
Ronald was an avid outdoors-man from his youth, and was heavily involved in Boy Scouts of America, earning his Life rank and working as a cook and lifeguard at Camp Tapico. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his family and friends, making annual hunting trips to Drummond Island for 40 years. His great love of the outdoors was shared with his children and grandchildren as was his involvement in Scouting, as he was involved with his son and grandsons, helping two of his grandsons earn their Eagle.
Ronald’s love of the outdoors led to his hobby of carving, beginning with duck decoys and branching out to walking sticks, fish, and various animals including a squirrel, otter and beaver which he mostly gave away as gifts. Many family members were always glad when he got their name for the annual Make-a-gift exchange, a family tradition he helped start over 40 years ago and still continues today.
After joining Holy Family Church, Ronald joined the Knights of Columbus and also brought his years of experience in facilities management by serving as a member of the Building Committee for the church restoration, which was completed in 2020.
Ronald is survived by his wife Pamela; children Jennifer (Dcn. Paul) Lochner; Kenneth (Staffinea) Mraz; and grandchildren Christina and Brendan Lochner; Catrina, Ronald (Kaja) and David Mraz and Lily Slater.
