LaVerne Keene, age 91, passed away peacefully at home in Flint, Michigan, on November 25, 2025.
Funeral service will be held at 1pm Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Paul Holland officiating.
Visitation will be from 3-6pm on Monday, December 1,2025, 12 noon Tuesday till the time of service at the funeral home.
Burial at Crestwood Cemetery.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Mary Lee and Melvin Adams of King William, Virginia.
LaVerne married James F. Keene on March 26, 1960.
She was a proud member of the Upper Mattaponi Tribe, a heritage that remained close to her heart throughout her life.
LaVerne had a long career at Perry Printing, retiring in 1996. She enjoyed playing games, gardening, discovering treasures at garage sales, home decorating, fashion and spending time with friends and family.
Above all LaVerne was deeply devoted to her family and we loved her lots and lots, and she would say love you more.
She is survived by her sister Laura Winn; her brother Melvin Adams Jr.; and her sister and brother-in-law Mary Lou and Bob Braden along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Franklin Keene, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Linda Moates and Jean Adams.
