It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Carol Clayton, age 80, of Flint Michigan, on January 24, 2025 surrounded by loving family after a courageous battle with dementia and cancer.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Nancy was born on October 14, 1944, in Flint, Michigan, to Paula (Ellis) Bacon and William Cadieu. After graduating from high school, Nancy briefly worked at General Motors before following her passion for women's shoes and clothing, which led her to a retail career that spanned the next 20 years.
Nancy was a people person that loved talking and connecting with others. She had a love and passion for horses and gambling and spent her free time at the race track or at the slot machines with lots of success. Nancy embodied the feminine spirit, adoring flowers, jewelry, shoes, and purses. Her impressive shoe collection boasted over 50 pairs!
Nancy was a loving mother and grandmother with a beautiful spirit and a side of spunk. She was generous and warm and ensured that her loved ones were taken care of no matter what. Nancy had a sweet tooth - she loved Coca Cola, chocolate chip cookies and McDonalds apple pies. Her warmth and love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was unconditional and unwavering. She lived life unapologetically and was not one to sit still for long. Although Nancy is no longer earth side, her vivacious laugh and legacy will live on through us.
She is survived by her daughter Paulette (Paul) Farrell; her grandchildren Amber (Joseph) Hagerty, Chelsea Mohn, Dustin Hogan, Dayne (Stephanie) Hogan, Michael Farrell, Myles Carroll, Emily (Tyler) Herholz, and Hannah (Zachariah) Magoon; her great-grandchildren Ashton, Daisy, Lilian, Lukas, Dax, Hotchner, Wyatt, and Georgia; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, her former husband and friend Lloyd Nelson, and the loving family of her late companion, Jimmie Nixon.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, William Cadieu and Paula Bacon; her stepfather, Les Bacon; her sister, Julia Ostrander; her daughter, Kimberly Nelson; her companion, Jimmie Nixon; and her late husband, Frank Clayton.
