TANNER, DARRALL H. – Of Swartz Creek, age 93, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Courtyard Manor.
A Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 1st, 2023 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Dr. Max B. Hayden officiating.
Visitation from 10:00am on Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home.
A private burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.
Darrall was born the eighth of 12 children in Lansing, Michigan on April 8, 1929, the son of the late George and Daisy Tanner. He moved to Flint and started working assembly for Chevrolet. He then served 2 years in the United States Army. After the military, Darrall began his 29 year career working in heating and cooling and fixing up rentals. Darrall has been accused of being a workaholic and unable to stay in one spot for very long. He was an early riser and enjoyed staying busy, especially with yard work. His biggest chore in life was maintaining his 10 acres of property. Darrall loved visiting with family and spending time with his dogs. He once said, “If I had to live my life over again, I don’t know that I would want to change any part of it”.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Rebecca S. Tanner and Gayle A. and husband James Martin;
4 grandchildren, Drew (Sarah) Tanner, Jacob (Olivia) Ray, James Tanner Martin and Larisa Martin;
great-grandchildren, Drew Tanner, Everly Tanner, Austin Tanner and Ellis Ray;
sister, Lois Spencer;
and his beloved dog, Roxie.
Darrall was preceded in death by his 10 siblings.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Disabled Veterans of America or Canine Stray League Rescue in Oxford.
