Joyce was born on April 13, 1936, in Orion Twp., Michigan, to the late Vern and Helen (Trepto) Balch. She graduated from Lapeer High School with the class of 1954. She married Ronald Andress in January of 1956, and together they had 8 children. Ronald preceded her in death in 2002. Joyce married Harley R. Tingley on November 10, 1979, and they enjoyed many happy years together before his passing on September 10, 2012. Besides being a homemaker, she worked at Metamora Products in Metamora and Champion Home Builders in Dryden. Joyce was a faithful member of Lifeline Church of God in Clio, the Clio VFW Post #1452 Ladies Auxiliary, and actively involved with the Clio Senior Center. She loved collecting rocks, and she had an undeniable artistic talent and enjoyed expressing herself through craft making of all kinds. Joyce loved painting, leatherwork, jewelry-making, and was a skilled seamstress. She also had a green thumb, tending to a beautiful garden of flowers and vegetables over the years. Her chickens were a daily source of joy, often following her around, but it was her beloved furry companions—her dog, Kyia, and cat, Lule Belle—that held a special place in her heart. Joyce was known for her giving nature, generosity, and spunky personality. She had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went and a gift for conversation that made everyone feel welcome. Her loving heart touched the lives of many, and her warm and caring presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
