SMITH, Dorothea (McIntosh) – of Birch Run, age 86, died peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Winter Village in Frankenmuth. Funeral service will be held at 10AM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Pastor Ted McCulloch officiant. Burial at Cook Cemetery to follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 4PM until 8PM and Friday from 9AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to a charity of one’s choice or to the family for future designation.
Dorothea was born July 17, 1938, in Saginaw, to the late Wilbur and Ella (Arnold) Lavrack. She attended Birch Run schools and wore many hats throughout her life – her most proud being a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. Dorothea married her beloved husband, Harry McIntosh, in 1954 and together they shared 44 years of marriage. Harry preceded her in death in 1998. She later married Merle Smith in 2000, and they shared 22 years of marriage. Merle preceded her in death in 2022. Dorothea was a simple woman who enjoyed country music, playing her guitar, painting, and tending to her yard. She was hard working, quick-witted, and always there when you needed her. Dorothea was truly wonderful and can never be replaced.
Dorothea is forever remembered by: Children: Donald McIntosh, Margaret Ann (Jack) Chase, Peter Mike (Barbara) McIntosh, Paul Alan McIntosh, and Sharon Kay (Darrel) Belanger; Grandchildren: Scott, Daniel, Sarah, Elizabeth, Rachel, Tara, Tricia, Amanda, Alexandra, Robert, Brian, Blake, and Heather; Many beloved great grandchildren and one great-great grandbaby due March 2025; Brothers: Don (Bev) Lavrack, Richard Lavrack, Thomas (Pam) Lavrack, and Roger (Shelby) Lavrack; Several nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends. Dorothea was preceded by: Daughter, Barbara Jean Jackson; Son, Robert Harry McIntosh; Parents, Wilbur and Ella; Siblings: Dave, Jeanette, Lillian, Robert, Lorna, Sue, and Mark. |
