Zerka, Mariam T. of Flint, age 89, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022, at Angel Manor in Clio. Funeral services will be 12 Noon Thursday, November 3, 2022, at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church. Fr. Michel Cheble and Deacon David Herr will officiate. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the service at 12 Noon.

Mariam was born in Derdghaya, Lebanon on September 14, 1933, the daughter of Amira (Herr) and Toufic Zerka. Together with her parents, she immigrated to Flint in 1969. Since that time, she was a devoted member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church where her faith was a very important part of her life. For over 40 years, Mariam baked the communion bread for the church. During her early years in Flint, she worked as a seamstress until she was hired at AC Spark Plug. She worked there until her retirement. Mariam enjoyed visiting and helping family members whenever she could. She also spent many hours in her flower and vegetable garden.

Mariam is survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Zerka; brother-in-law, Francis Haddad; and many, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amira and Toufic Zerka; and siblings, Bahijeh (Salem) Zerka, Rahijeh Zerka, Almaza Zerka, George Zerka; Nazeer Zerka, Mansour Zerka, Samira (Maroun) Khattar, and Salwa Haddad.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers, Sadie, Bernetta, Kim, and Jamie at Angel Manor in Clio. Also, to the compassionate nurses at All American Home Care and Hospice.
