Potts, Linda “Lindy” – of Montrose age 76, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022, at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, January 4, 2022, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Burial will follow to Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 2PM until 7PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation.
Lindy was born January 12, 1946, in Mount Gay, West Virginia, to the late Jesse and Bessie (Canterbury) Carter. She grew up loving the mountains, hollers, and the creeks around where she lived. Lindy enjoyed the fresh mountain air and picking wildflowers. Most of all she loved the wonderful West Virginia people, and her mommy’s cooking. Lindy loved to cook and bake for her very large family and do the big family dinners. She loved music, especially Elvis Presley. Linda had no children of her own, but she was always a loving and nurturing soul who was always ready to baby sit and help with the family children.
Surviving are: Brother, Orville Carter; Sister, May Rice; Several nieces and nephews. She is survived by Steven and James Anton two boys she thought the world of; Good friends: Kathy Anton, Sherry Davis, and Russel Lucas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Charles Potts; Brothers: Denver, Ray, Dallas, Thomas, and Sherman Carter; Sisters: Mollie Porter, Virgie Porter, Willa Mae White, Gloria Blackford, and Gracie White. She was also preceded in death by stepbrothers and stepsisters.
A big thank you to all the people, family and friends who helped with her care over the past few months. It didn’t matter if it was with preparing her a meal or doing housework. Everyone pitched in with all their heart and love. A very special thank you to Chery Carter, for getting her to all her medical appointments and so much more. You are one of God’s angels on earth.
