SAVOIE, Theresa Marie – of Temperance, MI, formerly of Flint, MI, age 98, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021. The family will receive visitors 9:30-10:30 AM Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11:00 AM, offered by Rev. Fr. Denis R. Spitzley. Interment 2 PM Tuesday, September 7, 2021 in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Theresa was born in Fiber, MI on March 15, 1923, the 5th child of 11, of the late Edward and Denise (Godin) Savoie. At the age of 17 she entered the convent of the sisters of St. Joseph in 1940. As a sister of St. Joseph, she was a dedicated teacher for the love of God and her students. In 1972, she gave up her teaching and took a sabbatical leave to care for her aging parents. Theresa was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, MI, then of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Toledo, OH. She loved people and enjoyed games, puzzles, and singing. For many years, Theresa was a member of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (2533 Thoman Street, Toledo, Ohio 43613).
Theresa is survived by 1 sister, Irene Hindermeier; sister-in-law, Velma (Fernand) Savoie; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Denise Savoie; 9 siblings, Monique Savoie, Adrien Savoie, Raymond (Barbara) Savoie, Victor (Pandora) Savoie, Romeo (Reva) Savoie, Fernand Savoie, Alphonse (Barbara) Savoie, Claude Savoie and Joan Savoie; brother-in-law, Ted Hindermeier.
