ASARO, Salvatore “Sam” - Of Grand Blanc, age 88, died Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held 2pm Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. (Hank Messing officiating)
Visitation 11am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Salvatore “Sam” was born in Flint, Michigan on April 27, 1935, the son of the late Peter and Mary (DiGorgi) Asaro. Sam served in the United States Army National Guard. He married Janice and had four children together. Sam was an assistant plant manager of S.P.O. He retired from General Motors to pursue his other businesses. Sam loved his Sicilian heritage, particularly family gatherings. His family was number one to him, followed by his hard work ethic, love of sports, especially golf, dancing, singing and traveling. Sam also enjoyed playing cards and entertaining.
Surviving are partner of 25 years, Dawn Parr;
children, Sam Asaro, Daria (Tony) Neurohr, and Nicole (David) Hackett;
grandchildren, Anthony, Hannah, Abigail, Richie, and Samantha;
great-grandchildren, Gracie, Ava, Natalie, and Elizabeth;
mother of his children, Janice Asaro;
and sister, Virgie Vermett.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Julie and 8 siblings.
