Albert (Sonny) Thompson of Clio, Michigan passed away on April 28, 2022. While unexpected, he went peacefully at the age of 80. Sonny was born in Flint, Michigan to the parents of Willis and Pearl Thompson on February 4th, 1942.
While growing up Sonny spent most of his time at the family owned Thompson’s Service Station in Swartz Creek. He had many fond memories of his time working at the station. Sonny enjoyed playing music, he was a singer and guitarist for a local country band called Tall Cotton for many years. During his time with the band he joined the Bluegrass Association and traveled to many festivals. These travels allowed him to visit all 48 continental states by motorcycle. Sonny worked at the Turnstead GM Plant as a pipefitter until closing, he then transferred to Metal Fab until he retired in 2003. He was a loving father and grandfather.
Sonny is survived by his wife of 32 years Judea Thompson, his son Philip Thompson (Rhonda), daughters Sandy Bryant (Leon), Patti Fischer (David), and Peggy Thompson. He leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Pearl Thompson as well as his sister Judy Livesay.
Per Sonny’s wishes there will be no service, a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
