Patty was born October 28, 1950, in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of Eugene and Helen Conlon.

Patty graduated from Our Lady of Lakes Catholic School in Waterford, Michigan in 1968. Patty then went on to Providence Hospital of Nursing in Detroit, Michigan earning her Nursing Degree in 1973. She married John Leo LaForge on December 22, 1970, in Pontiac, Michigan. They were high school sweethearts and shared a loving marriage that lasted 41 years. In 1978, Patty and John moved to the Flint area, where she began her long and dedicated nursing career at Hurley Medical Center, serving for 40 years. Patty was a: devoted wife, loving mother, wonderful sister and exceptional nurse, plus a faithful Catholic, whose life was marked by compassion, commitment, and love.

Patty and her husband raised their four children in the Mott College Cultural Center neighborhood of Flint, Michigan. She was a proud and supportive mother, faithfully attending her children’s sporting events and school activities. Above all, loved being a mom. Patty was incredibly creative and had a passion for home renovation and remodeling projects, which she loved doing alongside John. Together, they made every house a home, pouring love and care into each detail.

She found joy in lots of simple pleasures-catching a good movie, browsing the Flint Farmers’ Market, attending Mass, and creating treasured memories with her family at their beloved vacation home in Port Austin, Michigan. Patty never turned down a Scrabble challenge—and rarely lost. A devoted Jeopardy fan, she amazed everyone by answering nearly every question correctly. She stayed sharp and informed, beginning each morning with her favorite news show, Morning Joe. Patty loved music, especially listening to The Beatles, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell, and even pop music. Patty’s sweet tooth was legendary—no family meal was complete without one of her homemade desserts. She always had a Coca-Cola nearby and made the best bran muffins around. Grammie loved her five grandchildren from the moment they were born and remained a source of support and guidance for many years.

Surviving to cherish Patty’s memory are Daughter, Heather LaForge. Daughter, Elisabeth (LaForge), Wasson, husband Matthew, grandchildren, Anna, Jane, and Henry. Son, Brian LaForge. Daughter, Kathleen (LaForge), Hilton, Husband Kirk, grandchildren, Gracynn and Benson.
