Joseph Katrinic of Swartz Creek, age 81, died Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Brookdale Assisted Living. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church (1227 East Bristol Rd, Burton, MI) with Father Georges Bidzogo officiating. Visitation will be at Swartz Funeral Home (1225 West Hill Road, Flint, MI) from 4:00-8:00pm on Friday and at the church from 10:00am until the time of the Mass. Joseph will be buried at Crestwood Cemetery.
Joseph was born in Flint, Michigan, on February 11, 1943, the son of the late Joseph and Betty Katrinic. On February 12, 1966, he married the love of his life, Donna Mazzola, who preceded him in death on June 23, 2016. Joseph was employed with GM Truck and Bus for over 30 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Swartz Creek Council.
Joseph had a deep love for his family, always cherishing the time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid gardener, finding joy and peace in tending to his fruits and vegetables. He always enjoyed spoiling his Dogs who brought him much comfort and happiness. Joseph also loved spending time up north with Donna during his retirement years where he hosted many family and friends.
Surviving are his children Joseph (Linda) Katrinic Jr. and Chandra (Wayne) Buller; grandchildren JJ Hoss, Sierra Hoss, and Joey Katrinic III; and siblings Peggy Rutherford, Toni Delaware, Fran Lundberg, Joanne Jackson, Nick Katrinic, Bill Katrinic, and Michael Katrinic. He was preceded in death by siblings Stephanie Katrinic, Carol Gordon, and Tommy Thomas.
Contributions may be made to St. Francis Retreat Center in Dewitt, Michigan where Joe spent several years with the Franciscan Brothers during high school.
