CAREY, Gertrude V. – Of Flushing, age 95, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 at her residence.
A private funeral service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
Gertrude was born in Neelyville, Missouri on August 10, 1927, the daughter of the late Clifford and Betty Moore. She married Shannon L. Carey, Jr. and he preceded her in death in 1991.
Gertrude loved to create beautiful flower arrangements and gardening. She also spent her time sewing and baking. Most of all she enjoyed attending her children’s activities and being with family.
Surviving are sons, Brent L. (Valarie) Carey and Gregg A. Carey;
grandchildren, Kimberly, Allison and Jeffrey;
and great-grandson, Jason.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shannon L. Carey Jr.; daughter, Carol L. Carey and siblings, Gladys Dearing, Kathryn Stern, Vera Presson, Dorothy Rush, Veneda Zerbe, Colleen Wilson, Roy Moore and Vernon Moore.
