ALUMBAUGH, Pete - Of Flint Michigan Age 90 – “Pete” was born in Damascus AR on August 18th 1932, died Feb 1, 2023 at American House in Grand Blanc Michigan.
Preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth and his son Scott (Patricia Oakman) sisters Glenna (Bob) Higdon, Lou Smith (Paul) and a brother Gene (Rita).
Pete is survived by his daughter Deborah ((Joe) Pecherski and his son Jeff (Chris) Alumbaugh, his grandchildren Sarah (Kurt) Classen, Samantha (Ryan) Kasperski, Adam (Emalie) Pecherski lLaura (Ryan) Vaughn, Erin (Jacob) Cohen, Scott Alumbaugh Jr. and Jane Alumbaugh as well as many great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother James (Georgia) and a sister Donna Dean (Billy Don) Evans.
Pete grew up in Arkansas, met and married his wife Liz in 1952. Soon thereafter, the couple moved to Flint Michigan where Pete took a job at at Graff Ford and Liz worked at AC Delco.
Pete’s passion was cars – and soon after moving to Flint, he opened his first of several businesses – First was Talerico Edsel Sales. Soon after that he opened Capitol Cars. He later built a dealership - Pete Alumbaugh Porsche Audi Peugeot and Lee Leasing. Later after selling these, he opened American International Rent A Car. Pete was a lifelong champion of Flint and was intensely proud of his adopted city. He was a fixture at the “table of honor” and QP’s (Halo Burger) in downtown Flint and was friends with every lawyer and judge that frequented this spot. Upon retiring from the business world, Pete and Liz moved to their cabin on the Muskegon River near Big Rapids where lived for many years. Pete had a wide circle of friends he kept from all his business ventures and was a virtual encyclopedia of “who’s who” as it related to Flint and other places he lived. He will be missed and remembered.
