LUBIATO, Carlo J. – Of Flint, age 81, died Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Genesys Convalescent Center.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Lubiato will be at the church from 9 a.m. Wednesday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Father Bill Wegher, his godson officiating.
Burial 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.
Carlo was born in Flint, Michigan on June 8, 1933, the son of the late Erminio and Linda (Narduzzi) Lubiato and was a resident of Flint all of his life.
He graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1951 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy.
Carlo married JoAnn M. Havrilla on June 17, 1967.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #695.
Mr. Lubiato was at Teacher at Carman-Ainsworth District for 35 years, where he coached football, basketball and baseball. He also served as Athletic Director from 1963-1969.
Surviving are wife, JoAnn;
two sons, Christopher Lubiato,
Marc and wife Merrill Lubiato;
sisters, Mary and husband Mike Benjamin,
Maria and husband Ira Dopkin;
brother, Alex Lubiato and beloved by in-laws, nieces, nephews and godchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Rico and Barbara Lubiato.
