PAYNE, Gordon R. - age 89, died June 27, 2023. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, 9506 N Dort Hwy, Mt Morris, MI 48458. Gordon was born March 31, 1934, in Flint, the son of Robert and Reva (Wannamaker) Payne. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean War. Gordon married Judell Ellen Sharpe on April 18, 1964, in Montrose and she preceded him in death on December 22, 2017. He retired from General Motors in 1990 after 38 years of service. Gordon was a charter member of Resurrection Reformed Church, former vice president of Tails A Wagon Camping Club, Big Brothers Program participant, Navy Reserves and a motorcycle club. Surviving are: daughter, Melinda Ann Payne and spouse, Lori Ann Whitman of Belleville; sister, Janice (Tom) Payne-Fader of Adrian; nephews and nieces, Eric (Amanda) Rolfe of Ypsilanti and their children, Brent and Amelia Rolfe, Ryan (Lily) Rolfe of Mississippi and their children, Cecily, Emmett, and Joseph Rolfe; Charles Fader, Gina Payne-Bradshaw, Denise Hull Ryan, Larry Payne, Deanna Hull-Whitney, Rick Payne, Kevin (Diane) Payne, Karen Hull Pettebone, Michael Payne, Shelly Hull Thomas, Sandra Payne. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Payne and sisters, Ruthanne Payne-Mills, and Doris Payne-Hull.
