TALASKI, Bernadette “Bernie” – of Lapeer, age 71, passed away on January 16, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Monday, January 22, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Private interment will take place following the Mass in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-8 PM Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Monday at the church. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Bernie was born in Bad Axe, MI on August 26, 1952, daughter of the late Raymond and Virginia (Krzezewski) Lasceski. She married Richard Talaski at St. Mary’s Church near Kinde, MI on October 23, 1971. Bernie and Rick were active members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison. A Reader since 1972, Eucharistic Minister, greeter and former PREP Teacher. Bernie was deeply grateful to be a member of the St. John Parish family for over 52 years and enjoyed serving on various committees and events. Highlights of Bernie’s life were traveling on Pilgrimages to the Holy Land (twice) as well as Loudes, France; Spain and Fatima in Portugal. Bernie enjoyed visiting churches during travels wherever she went. Her hobbies included reading, walking, traveling and being involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s life events as well as her church. Bernie tried to live a life of joy, always trying to see the good in people and circumstances. Her favorite saying was “God is in charge”. Bernie retired as Sr. Vice President of Lapeer County Bank after 43 years, starting in 1971.
Bernie is survived by her husband, Richard, children, Mark (Gwen) Talaski of Bloomington, IL and Julie Reed of Flushing, MI; grandchildren, Amariah (Connor Maurer), Trejan and Alyviah Wright and Grayson and Eliza Talaski; great granddaughter, Amayla Maurer siblings, Kathleen Donovan and Donald (Nancy) Lasceski; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by brother, Ronald; Godchildren, Sandra and Rhonda; many other family members and friends.
