AUSTIN, Douglas D. – Of Flint, age 71, died Thursday, November 11, 2021 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Jack Dowden officiating.
Visitation 2-8pm Tuesday and 11am Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Contributions may be made to the family.
Douglas was born in Flint, Michigan on September 4, 1950, the son of Donald and Dorothea (Brown) Austin. On August 5, 1978, he married Leisa Esch in Flint. Douglas enjoyed RC airplanes, helicopters and flying model planes and was a member of the Chesaning Area Model Flying Club. He also enjoyed golfing and crossword puzzles. Douglas enjoyed singing in the choir at Emmanuel Baptist Church where he was a former member. Above all else, Douglas enjoyed spending time with his family and his cats.
Surviving are wife, Leisa;
Children, Kelly, Kristopher, Kirby (Kayla), Kathryn (Cory);
Step-son, Roger Powell;
Brother, Richard (Debbie);
Grandchildren, Sammantha Hayley, Bryce, Keagan, Ricky, Tanner and Savannah;
Great-grandchild, Nevaeh.
He was preceded in death by his stepson, Patrick Heit and granddaughter, Lilah Rose.
