Family and friends will gather in the sanctuary of Second Friendship Missionary Baptist Church 6046 N. Clio Road Mt. Morris, MI 48458 on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 11AM, with service commencing promptly at 12NOON. Pastor Rodney S. Williams Sr. officiating.
Mrs. Hodges will lie in state at Swanson Funeral Home 2210 M.L. King Avenue Flint, MI 48503 on Thursday, August 28, 2014 and may be viewed 11AM-8PM. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Mrs. Earline Hodges was born November 16, 1926 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was the daughter of Alford & Nellis May. Mrs. Hodges graduated from Central High School in 1945 and went on to own her own janitorial service. Earline was a volunteer for Cook Community School as a “Home Room Mother”. She loved God first, was a mother to many, enjoyed cooking & baking, loved flowers & gardening, making wedding cakes, was an avid reader and was a Horticulturist.
She leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Ernest Hodges; children, Rose Marie Hodges, Michael Ferress Hodges, Daniel Oliver Hodges, David Kevin Hodges, Deborah Karen Hodges, Dianne Karol Junior, and Earlene McCombs (Purches); grandchild, Faith Marie-Karen Junior; and special cousin, Earlene McCombs Purches (Claude).
She was preceded in death by: parents, Alford & Nellie May; and son, Michael F. Hodges.
The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers who allowed the family to have mom at home: Earline Turner, Hilda Alastanah-Abueita, Shiquita Washington, Mary Southward and Tyanna Connor. The family also thanks McLaren ICU & Hospice and Dr. Abullah Raffee. |
