Donald Vasicek Age 81 of Corunna Michigan passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Memorial Healthcare. Services for Don will be held Friday, December 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 am with Fr. Michael O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Swartz Creek. The family will receive friends at Nelson House on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00pm with Rosary at 7:00pm. Donald was born April 24, 1942 in Swartz Creek Michigan, the son of Frank and Anna (Hudy) Vasicek. He graduated from Swartz Creek High School in June 1960 and continued his education at the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in Flint Michigan. While at GMI, he worked as an apprentice at Chevrolet Frame & Stamping Division as a Die Maker. In June 1962 he graduated from GMI and started working at Flint Metal Center (Fabrication). He spent 45 years at Flint Metal Center working as a Tool & Die Designer. He retired July 1, 2005. Don was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, fishing (including his annual fishing trip to Canada with his buddies), cutting/chopping wood. He also appreciated time spent in the garden. His family could always find him tinkering, repairing/fixing something. Donald is survived by his son, Timothy (Christine) Vasicek, daughter Lorie (Andrew) Toth; grandsons Logan, Carter, Evan Vasicek and James Toth, brother Bob Vasicek and 2 sisters-in-law (Shirley and Marion Vasicek), mother of his children (Connie Rowden), plus numerous nieces/nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and 3 brothers: Fred, Jack, and David Vasicek. The family requests no flowers or gifts. Donations in Don’s name can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church of Owosso, or any other charitable organization, if so desired. Online condolences may be sent to the family at Nelson-House.com. |
