Esther was born in Saginaw, Michigan on September 16, 1939, the daughter of the late Matthew J. and Katherine (Reiss) Marzluft. She graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School and went to work in a plastic surgeon’s office. She met Albert Vancise at a dance and they married in 1963. Esther became a homemaker, caring for their three children and many others. She was a longtime, faithful member of Mt. Zion Catholic Community.

Esther was a woman of many talents and hobbies. She was a master quilter, upholsterer and loved to sew. Having grown up on her family farm, she continued the legacy of farming through her large garden and the many flowers she grew and tended. Esther frequently could be found in her kitchen, canning vegetables and freezing her produce. She enjoyed baking and sharing her culinary abilities with family and friends.

Esther and Al loved to travel and spend time camping with close friends. They had several lifelong friendships that they cherished. Esther worked briefly as a volunteer for Flushing Community Outreach Center and spent many hours volunteering at her beloved parish, Mt. Zion. The people of Mt. Zion were her family and she had great love for them.

Esther was a woman of prayer and devotion. She could be found in her chair, with a bible in hand and list of people that she prayed for daily. She had an unshakeable faith in the goodness, love and mercy of God. Even during her illness, her favorite saying was “God is good. God is good all the time.”

Esther will be remembered for the love she poured out on those around her. She was quick to laugh and smile, even in the midst of chemotherapy treatments. She was loved and will be greatly missed.

Her family holds in their hearts and has deep gratitude for Dr. Danish and Gentiva Hospice, in particular Angie, Kim, Tracy and Meredith. Their love, care and compassion for Esther is greatly appreciated.

Esther is survived by her daughters, Christine Morse and Amy (Chad) Hall, her beloved grandchildren Naomi Morse and Scott and Carisa Hall, her sisters, Nancy Repuyan and Irisa Luft.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Vancise, daughter, Lisa Vancise, stillborn daughter Caroline Vancise, sisters Marie Lorencz, Kathleen Smith and brother Matthew P. Marzluft. There is much rejoicing in Heaven as Esther is reunited with her family that has gone on before her.

Donations in Esther’s memory are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
