TOWNSEND, Harold R. - of Clio, age 79, died Friday, November 6, 2020, at his residence. Family will receive friends at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio from 2-7 PM on both Wednesday and Thursday November 11 & 12, 2020. Due to government and Covid-19 regulations, only 40 people are permitted in our chapel at one time and mask are required for entry. A family graveside service will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly and Pastor Jeremy Peters will officiate. Memorial donations may be considered to The Humane Society of Genesee County.

Harold was born July 21, 1941 in Henderson, KY to the late William T. and Archie Mae (Sisk) Townsend. He was a proud graduate of Atherton High School with the Class of 1960. He went on to faithfully serve his country in the U.S. Army. Harold worked for General Motors at their Truck & Bus Plant and retired with 43 ½ years of service. On July 18, 2015 he married Christine A. Wright in Flint at Court Street United Methodist Church. Harold was a member of the Flushing Moose Lodge. He loved anything Western, his favorite being Hop Along Cassidy. He owned all types of memorabilia, including comics to movies, and enjoyed watching the Saturday morning Western Marathons. He was also an avid collector of Coca Cola items. He was considered a very lucky guy and loved playing the slot machines and taking trips to his favorite casino’s Soaring Eagle and Saganing Eagles Landing. Harold was also a true animal lover. He owned many dogs, but his best one was his recent Chihuahua 7-Up. He was a wonderful family man and friend, who never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are: Wife, Christine; children: Toni (Rob) McMullen of Clio and Tim (Lena) Townsend of Flushing; grandchildren: Kattie McMullen, Amy (Chad) Guest, Katelyn Townsend and Isabella Townsend; Great Grandson: Conner; Brother: Larry Townsend of Grand Blanc; Nieces: Tamara, Tracie and Shannon and Nephew: Damon. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Archie Mae, wife Diana and best friend Jimmy Thomas.
