Gordon Lyle Mundy, 94, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 13, 2023 following a brief illness. Gordon was born October 8, 1928 in Grand Blanc, MI to Claude and Anna Mundy. Gordon was the seventh of eight children. Gordon graduated from Linden High School in 1948. Gordon worked in farming many years before switching to skilled trades for General Motors at the Flint Engine Plant.
Gordon married Dorothy Parsell September 17, 1949. The couple were blessed with 5 children and celebrated 73 years together. Gordon never lost his love of farming and working in the woods. Gordon was strong and active up until the final week of his life. Gordon was an active member of the Faith Church of Linden, always willing to help anyone in need. Gordon loved spending time with his family at his home or his property up North, affectionately known as “The Shack.”
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, daughter Amy Mitchell and son-in-law Gary Ashley.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; his children Lynne Ashley, Karen (Preston) Zale, Cherie (Ronald) Campbell, Lee (Deb) Mundy, son-in-law Leonard Mitchell, 21 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.
The family will hold a private interment at Fairview Cemetery in Linden. The public memorial service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Faith Church of Linden, 4518 Silver Lake Rd., Linden, MI.
