McCulloch, Billy J., of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Swartz Creek and Flint Township, age 87, died Friday, May 28th in Florida. Bill was born in Ackerman, Mississippi on January 20, 1934, to Edgar and Laura (Jayroe) McCulloch.
He married Willodean Naramore on September 21, 1958, in Eupora, MS. They moved to Flint where he began his career with General Motors, retiring from AC Spark Plug in 1985 with over 31 years of service. He was a Veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany and was a member of the 498th Engineering Brigade Bridge Building Champions of Europe. Bill was a former member of Bethany and Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Churches in MI, and most recently attended Eastside Baptist Church in Punta Gorda, FL. In his early family years, Bill was the Church Music Director and especially enjoyed Southern Gospel Music. He could often be found singing together with his daughters, even before they could read a hymnal. Bill always had a large beautiful garden and shared his vegetables with others. He could fix anything and was the first to lend a hand when the need arose. He was a kind and easy-going gentleman who listened more and spoke less. He loved God and his family and was loved and respected by all. Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Willodean; daughters, Judy and Don Cox of Swartz Creek, Teresa McCulloch and Kevin Ostby of Grand Blanc. Grandchildren: Amy and Robert Phillips of Berkley, MI., Michael Streetman (Emily Hartleben) of Mt. Pleasant, NC, and Morgan Streetman (Zach Maloney) of Swartz Creek. Great grandsons: Robbie and Jackson of Berkley, MI. Special Nephew; Roger & wife Beth McCulloch of Flushing. Brothers-In-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins and many life-long friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. A memorial service will be held 11am, Thursday, August 12th at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 W. Hill Rd, Flint, with Interment following at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
