Mary Louise Kellett, of Flushing, Michigan, age 69, died Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. Funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 22 at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta will officiate. Burial to follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday at Rossell Funeral Home from 1-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary service, and Monday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to The Christopher Atchison “Live the Dream” Scholarship Fund, Make-A-Wish Foundation, or Flushing Christian Outreach Center.

Mary Lou was born in Flint, Michigan on October 20, 1952 to August and Lorraine (Kennedy) Staley. After graduating high school in 1970 she graduated from University of Michigan Flint, and earned her Master's degree from Oakland University in early childhood development. She taught elementary school for 39 years in Swartz Creek, Flint, and Hartland. She was described by coworkers as always cheerful, positive and supportive and a beacon of light for teachers, new and old. Mary Lou continued her love of teaching as a Drums Alive instructor for 10 years. She taught all of those around her the importance of faith, family, perseverance, strength, and kindness. She was an inspiration to all. Mary Lou enjoyed long walks on the beach and shell picking in the many beautiful places she traveled to with Fred. Time spent with family and friends was of highest value to Mary Lou. Her unwavering faith in God guided her throughout her life. Mary Lou's positive attitude and energetic spirit will be her true legacy.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Kellett; daughters, Susan Andreasson, Kristine (Jarrett) Denley, Sarah (Matthew) Wright, Jessica (Paul) Sturgill, and Amanda (Brian) Norrow; grandchildren, Erik, Axel, Alex, Nicholas, Teresa, Abby, Christopher, Alyssa, Luke, Emma, Mya, and Leah; siblings, Dianne Creighton, Dennis Staley, Thomas Staley, James Staley, David Staley, Michael Staley, Gerald Staley, and Christine Atchison; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Lorraine Staley, Joseph Novak, and Christopher Atchison.
