DERUS, Ronald – of Davison, MI, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service with Military Hours will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 1 PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan 48442. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish in honor of Ron.
Ron was born in Detroit, Michigan, on November 21, 1944, the son of the late Anthony and Ann Derus. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ron devoted over 30 years of dedicated service to General Motors before retiring. On February 10, 2010, he married his beloved wife, Gerre, in a beautiful beach ceremony in Florida. Ron had a lifelong love of sports, especially baseball, where he enjoyed playing both fast-pitch and slow-pitch leagues. He was also a proud member of the Davison Eagles.
Ron is survived by his wife, Gerre Johnson-Derus; stepchildren, Sandy Tucker, Ken (Jennifer) Williams, Jason Williams, Nathan Johnson and Aaron (Emily Klein) Johnson; grandchildren, Ashley Tucker, Kenny (Hayley) Tucker, Samantha Tucker, Karlee Williams, Nicole Williams, Isabel Williams, Owen Williams; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Chris (Cate) Derus and Renee (Lonney) Jarnigin and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by both parents; his brother, Anthony Derus; daughter, Dara Derus; late wife, Susan Derus.
