Horn, Mabel Louise “Lou”- of Grand Blanc, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at American House Grand Blanc.
Per Lou’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation from 4-7pm Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Inurnment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 10am Thursday, August 11, 2022.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen (Breast Cancer Foundation).
Lou was born in Flint, Michigan on September 10, 1933, the daughter of the late Ronald H. and Mabel L. (Phillips) Welsby. On July 21, 1956, she married Jerry Horn. She and her family were residents of Grand Blanc for over 58 years. She and her husband were members of the Flint Elks #222 for over 45 years. As a member, Lou enjoyed playing golf and cards with her friends. She served on the Does of #222 for several years. As a survivor of cancer multiple times she found a calling by serving on cancer support groups for several years. Lou will be greatly missed for her love, friendships, and especially her wit.
Surviving are her children: Jerry and Roxanne Horn, David Horn and Pamela Spencer, Michael and Heidi Horn;
six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; loving nieces, Suzanne Sprague and Nancy Davis;
Second Mom to Sue Gale(Graham);
nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jerry Horn in 2019, brother Bill Welsby and sister Jane Woodfield.
