Martha Cuttitta 11/1/1931 – 1/29/2021
Martha Mary Elizabeth West Cuttitta was called home to the Lord on January 29, 2021.
A private ceremony with immediate family was held.
Martha was one of nine children born to Edmund and Mary Paye West in Grosse Pointe, MI.
She trained to become a bookkeeper prior to her marriage to Louis Cuttitta in 1955. Martha and Louis started their family of seven children in Utica, before moving to Romeo and eventually settling on a small farm in Lapeer.
Being the mother of seven children, Martha was no stranger to long hours, whether it was early morning sweet corn picking on the farm or late night Planning and Zoning Commission meetings or Ballot tallying for Lapeer County. Martha’s Catholic faith was very important to her and she has passed this faith to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband Louis, son Richard and grandson Brennen.
She is survived by her sister Rita Fawcett, her brother-in-law Bob Baltzell, her children: Joel (Sharon), Margo (Dan Berry), Marie (Daryl Lechner), Gary, Chris, Joan (Todd Anderson), daughter-in-law Bonnie, sixteen grandchildren: Jon, Steve, Courtney, Matt, Tony, Aaron, Corey, Elliott, Devin, Stevie, Shaylyn, Cole, Hope, Sammy, Maddie, Alice, seventeen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to: St. John Vianney Catholic School, Bishop Kelley Catholic School, Powers Catholic High School, or the Catholic school of your choice.
