BRENNAN, Dolores J. (Marx) - Of Flint, age 99, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Sugarbush Assisted Living.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Friday, February 3, 2023 at St. Mary Church, 2500 North Franklin Ave, Flint,
Father Matthew Bonk officiating.
Burial will follow in Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities.
The family will receive friends from 1pm-3:00pm on Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation also 10:00am on Friday at church until the time of Mass.
Dolores was born in Alger, Michigan on September 15, 1923 the daughter of the late Leo and Margaret (Loffelbien) Marx. After graduation, she entered the United States Navy, and served as a W.A.V.E. For the remainder of her life, she enjoyed time with family, gardening, playing cards, rooting for the Detroit Red Wings and actively serving as a choir member, lector at St. Mary’s Parish. While there, Dolores also enjoyed serving the community by working at St. Mary’s Food Pantry.
Dolores is survived by her children, Patrick L. (Donna) Doyle, Karen (Charles) Bruns;
grandchildren, Patrick H.T. Doyle, Kevin Doyle, Alison Teel, Jeff Doyle, Mary Doyle, Jennifer (Josh) Mize, Caitlin Contreras and Meghan (Aaron) Hacker;
great-grandchildren, Kamryn Phillips, Ryan Phillips, Holden Miller, Thaddeus Hacker, Ainsley Hacker and Maisie Hacker, Spencer Finn and Hayes Devlin Teal.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael, sisters, Margaret Hyatt and Veronica Donnelly and brothers, Louis and Lawrence Marx.
