Jean Ann Haas

Died: 12/30/2024
Age: 85
Community: Flushing, MI

Haas, Jean Ann (Kosier) of Flushing, Michigan, died peacefully Monday, December 30, 2024,  ending a ten-year battle with dementia. Until the end, Jean maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, appreciation of beauty, love of family, and friends. Her passing leaves a tremendous void for her husband of 63 years, Mike, and their family.

Born in Perry, Michigan in 1939, Jean was the third child of Elmo and Bernice (Beehler) Kosier. She loved to share memories of growing up in the small town of Perry where family was near and neighbors were also considered family. She was raised in a loving home that valued music, which has carried through the generations.

Jean attended Michigan State University and the University of Michigan-Flint. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1990. She worked for the Michigan School for the Deaf, as an unemployment benefits representative for the State of Michigan, as a bank teller, and an elementary school teacher.

Jean had a quick wit, an infectious laugh, a beautiful smile, and a kind soul. Family time was frequently spent at her dining table or kitchen island where she joked, laughed, and listened with an open heart. She was always up to play boardgames, sports, or create artwork with her grandchildren. Many wonderful meals, celebrations, and memories were created at their Flushing home.

She played the piano and organ for church services at Catholic churches in the Flint area. She was a member of St. Robert Catholic Parish Women’s Guild for many years.

Jean was a devoted mother to four boys Pete, Joe (Tina), Mike (Karen), and Kirk (Amy). Her grandchildren PJ (Nikki), Josh (Crystil), Isaak, Jack, Hadley, and Alana. We will never forget the love and support she provided. She was great grandmother to Lyric, Gwendolyn, Draven, Angelica, Anthony, and Gabriella. Special thanks to John, Sue, and Megan Haas and Roger Phillips for their love and support through the years.

She is preceded in death by her siblings Frank Kosier, Nancy (Kosier) Johansen, and Richard Kosier.

There will be a gathering of family and friends for a memorial lunch at Flushing Moose Lodge Sunday, January 26, 1- 4 pm.
