KALFS, John Arthur – of Montrose, age 72, passed away February 18, 2020 at his home. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 21, 2020 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose, Michigan. Pastor Bob Leming officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM at O’Guinn Family Funeral home in Montrose, Michigan. Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County or Community Mental Health.
John was born March 12, 1947 in Flint, Michigan to the late Simon and Gladys (Raymond) Kalfs. He grew up in Flint, Michigan and graduated from Northwestern High School with the class of 1965. On September 27, 1969 he married Connie Moore in Montrose, Michigan. Prior to his retirement in 1983 he worked for GM at the Truck & Bus Plant with 20 years of service. John was a member of the Montrose Senior Center and the UAW Local 598. He enjoyed fishing, classic cars, walking, and smoking his pipe. John also liked spending time with his family and going to the casino.
Surviving are: Wife of 50 years, Connie Kalfs; Son, John (Christine Munsell) Kalfs; Siblings, Dorothy Tarrant, Mary Ann Kaupp, James Kalfs; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Simon (Gladys) Raymond; Siblings, Robert Kalfs, Margaret Welch, Geraldine Buchanan; Father and Mother in law, Frank (Marion) Moore; Brother in law, Henry Moore.
