June Violet Vollweiler, 89, of Lapeer, (formerly of Millington) died Tuesday August 5, 2014. She was born June 2, 1925 in Oxford to parents Fred and Nina (Coles) Baxter. June graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1943. She married Floyd Henry Vollweiler on December 23, 1967 in Marlette. June was a loving homemaker her entire life except for short careers as a telephone operator and a factory worker. She was a long time member of the Rebecca Lodge #401 out of Clifford. She loved the gardening, knitting and bingo.
June is survived by her step-children: Floyd Vollweiler of Mayville, Edward Vollweiler of Texas, Donald (Joyce) Vollweiler of Otisville, Sheralyn Derrick of Lapeer and Doris Maple of Texas; thirteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sister, Freda Peariso of Davison; in-laws: Maxine Baxter of Lapeer, Roldon Ribble of Gaylord, Winifred Baxter of Lapeer, and Joyce Baxter of Georgia. June is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Vollweiler; grandson, Robert Vollweiler; siblings: Harry Baxter, Thern Baxter, Nina Roy, Fred Baxter, Edna Kempf, Dorothy Ribble, Carl “Bud” Baxter and Robert Baxter; and her parents.
Visitation will be from 1-7 PM Friday, August 8, 2014 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. June’s funeral will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Muir’s. Burial will be in Rich Cemetery, Mayville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the American Heart Association.
