Shirley I. Stockman of Davison and Lapeer, age 100 died Wednesday February 5, 2025 at her residence.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Monday February 10, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison, Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski, Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery. Shirley will lie in state from 12:00 noon Monday until time of services at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to the Church Memorial Fund in Shirley’s memory.
Shirley was born in Flint Michigan on October 25, 1924, the daughter of the late Roy and Elsie (Jones) Thurston, and step-mother Hazel Thurston, and has resided in the Davison – Lapeer area most of her life. She was joined in marriage to Joseph Stockman on May 14, 1945 at St. John Catholic Church in Davison, and he preceded her in death on September 2, 2004. Shirley was a graduate of Davison High School Class of 1944. She had been a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and St. Altar Society since 1944. Beside her time raising the family Shirley spent over thirty years in the nursing medical field, as a phlebotomist, and office management, retiring in October 1989. Shirley’s greatest love in later years was riding her golf cart around the farm.
She leaves to cherish her memory sons: Bill (Alice) Stockman, John (Becky Middleton) Stockman, and daughter –in-law Brenda Stockman. She also leaves her loving eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and good friend Jane Carter. Besides her husband Joseph she is preceded in death by sons: Michael J.
