Barbara Jean Guzman

Age 70 of Swartz Creek formerly of Owosso passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Memorial Healthcare.

Funeral Services will be held 7:00 pm Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Nelson-House Funeral Home with Pastor Marlene Webster officiating. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 pm until the time of service.

Barbara was born October 12, 1952 in Watervliet, the daughter of William and Norma (Palmer) Heinig.

Barbara had a passion for food and baking and enjoyed playing Bingo, slots, card games and scratch off tickets. She looked forward to music concerts at the Amphitheater, tending to her gardens, bird watching, shopping and going to the movies. Barbara was a Diva and loved being center of attention as much as she enjoyed being pampered in general; her favorites being mani's and pedi's. When it came to her daughters and grandchildren, everyone made sure Barbara knew she was a big deal. She enjoyed being Star of the Show at The Body Shop Salon owned by her youngest daughter. She was a staple of the salon and took part in many different charitable activities that the salon was involved in. She was front and center regularly to raise funds for the military, Humane Society, Relay for Life and everything in between. Barbara did what she could when she could. She was passionate about helping anyone in need. She always had the biggest smile on her face which said everything that she couldn't. She loved coming into the salon to be put on her pedestal and be treated like the Queen she was. Everyone always made a big fuss over her and she absolutely loved it. She was always so proud of her children, grandchildren and grand puppies. She lit up every room she ever walked into. She was full of love and light regardless of her physical circumstances. Barbara lived life to the fullest and wanted to share the love with everyone she came in contact with and she did just that. To know Barbara was to love her. She leaves behind a legacy of strong women that will forever honor the strong woman who inspired so many. Her family will cherish the memory of watching sunsets, swings on the front porch, road trips to fancy dinners or to the best fish frys. She loved sharing a meal with friends and family; especially finishing with dessert.

Barbara is survived by her loving companion for the past 11 years, John Wright; children Angie (Bobby) Boyer, Barbara "BJ" Guzman (Jennifer Sisco), Christina Guzman, and Tonia (Benjamin) Schlaud; grandchildren Angel (Shane) Bond, Jaimie (Corey) McDonough, Mark Beacham, Stevie (Cody) Haddrill, Thomas J. Church, James Richards (Ashley Beagle), and Jordyn Richards; great-grandchildren Kylie, Zachary, Damien, Landon, Cameron, Spencer, Bella, and Jazmine; other loving family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, brothers William Heinig and Michael Hoover, nephew Ryan Timko, and niece Sarah Hoover.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Shiawassee Council on Aging or Shiawassee Humane Society.
