Eugene Joseph Goulet
May 15, 1935 – November 10, 2021

Eugene was born in Flint Michigan to Emery Joseph and Vera Marie (nee Buzzard) Goulet who along with great nephew Chad preceded him in death. He lived in the Burton area his entire life.
He is survived by his two children, Andrew Joseph (Cynthia) Goulet of Algonac, Michigan, Ann Elizabeth (Craig) Parks of Pullman Washington, Grandsons Collin and Evan Parks, as well as his three brothers, Jerry (Sharon), Donald (Linda) and Michael (Debi), 9 nieces and nephews and his many, many friends.
Eugene is remembered most for the love of his family, friends, young children, small animals and wild birds. He was always in good humor and always ready for a good time. An avid hunter of deer and small game, a fisherman with 10, (yes 10) tackle boxes and prepared to fish anywhere. Lake Oba in Ontario was an annual trip for many years with a variety of family and friends. He was a lifelong athlete in slow pitch softball, blooper ball, bowling and golf. He was captain of nearly every team he played on in high school and usually the star player of those teams. Sports at a young age helped shape him into the man he was. A stint in the US Army reserves in the late fifties also heavily influenced his life. He was self-employed as the owner of the business his father started, Alert Sewer Company. At the time of his father’s death in 1964 he took over the business as well as the care and support of his mother and two young brothers. He cared for his mother until her death in 2001. He and his mother had a yearly contest as to who would be the first to see a robin…which he always won.
The memories of his children as well as nieces and nephews are of him teaching, teasing telling many stories and sharing funny circumstances. “Uncle Gene! We found kittens behind the garage!!” “Well, don’t tell Grandma.” “We already did!”
If “Geno” was telling a story, there was certainly a lot of laughter. And he had stories to tell about nearly everything. And of course, there are plenty of “sewer job” “tank truck” and “Lake George” stories. The many, many photos he took through the years chronicle much of the family history and continue to be cherished by all.
Eugene was a life member of the Mid-Michigan Chapter of the Beer Can Collectors of America where he rose to the level of Chapter President. His collection exceeds 10,000 cans.
Later in life Eugene joined the American Legion at Post 267 in Davison and became a part of the honor guard that performed military honors for veterans at Great Lakes National Cemetery. He took great pride in doing this service and ended up as “the bugle guy” which he enjoyed and spoke about often. When not doing Honor Guard duties, he enjoyed visiting Algonac and taking the semi annual bus trips to Tigers games and spending time watching ships, boats (except the noisy fast ones that forced him to turn up the TV), and wildlife on the St. Clair River.
Even with the onset of dementia, he remained cheerful and humorous, enjoying visits with family and friends alike.

Arrangements are as follows:
