DREXLER, Eleanor G. – of Chesaning, died Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Chesaning Nursing and Rehabilitation Chesaning. She was 101 years of age.
Eleanor was born in Maple Grove on March 6, 1923, a daughter of the late Edward and Edith (Sutter) Ebenhoeh and she has been a resident of Chesaning most of her life. On the first Sunday after her birth, her father hitched up the wagon with horses and took Eleanor to St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Maple Grove to receive the Holy Sacrament of Baptism. She enjoyed working in the factory in Flint during WWII in the era of “Rosie the Riveter.” Eleanor was united in marriage to Carl A. Drexler at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on September 13, 1947. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2012. She was a former member of St. Peter Parish Catholic Church of Chesaning and a current member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Maple Grove. Eleanor and Carl enjoyed square dancing with the New Lothrop Sunday Sashay Square Dance Group. They especially enjoyed traveling to 48 of 50 states and spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Eleanor attended many painting classes and sewing classes, and she enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking. She was a member for over 50 years with the Our Lady Study Club.
Eleanor is survived by her eight children, Joan (Dennis) Andres of New Lothrop, Charles Edward Drexler of Columbia ,CA., Mary Drexler of Knoxville, TN., Roy (Bonnie) Drexler of Ashville, NC, Floyd (Jan) Drexler of Keystone, SD, Susan (Ray) Mather of Bath, John (Diane) Drexler of San Antonio, TX, and Sharon (Paul) Moore of New Lothrop; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brother, Patrick (Judy) Ebenhoeh of Skokie, IL; sister-in-law, Jeannie Ebenhoeh of New Lothrop; brothers-in-law, Gordon Krupp of Grand Blanc, Bill (Diane) Krupp of Chesaning, and Dan Ruddy of Chesaning; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; and her siblings, Henrietta and husband Lavern Birkmeier, Eileen and husband Louis Birkmeier, Marie and husband Clarence Schnell, Edward Ebenhoeh, Vincent and wife Doris Ebenhoeh, Grace and husband Dominic Sherry, Floyd and wife Irene Ebenhoeh, Margaret Krupp, Martha Krupp, Howard and wife Bonnie Ebenhoeh, Donald Ebenhoeh, and Jane Ruddy.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Maple Grove with Fr. Joe Krupp officiating. A private burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Chesaning. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the Mass.
