David William Maguire, Sr., age 84, of Flushing, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 4, 2022. David was born June 23, 1937 in Flint, Michigan to the late Marsden Maguire and Jessie Glossip.
Throughout his life, David worked as a very skilled electrician and owned and operated three electrical contracting businesses throughout his career. In addition to these successful businesses, he served as president of the Flint Electrical Contractors Association. David loved golfing, fishing, boating, spending time with his grandchildren, and visiting the casinos in both Las Vegas and Michigan. He also loved making buttermilk blueberry pancakes for his family on Christmas morning and strawberry jam every summer with his kids. David spent much time with his family on Torch Lake, which was a big part of his and his family's life.
David leaves his beloved wife of 66 years, Elisabeth Maguire (Burch); children: Kimberly Hall (Maguire), David Maguire, Jr., Barbra Burnett (Maguire), and Katharine (Michael) Whitman (Maguire); grandchildren: David Maguire, Bradley Maguire, Spencer Ackles, Colin Ackles, William Burnett, Riley Renner, and Olivia Whitman; great grandchildren: Renegade Maguire, Cordelia Maguire, Willow Ackles, and Jaxson Maguire. David also leaves his cherished dog, Sammy.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Marsden Maguire; sister, Karen Leo; and daughter Julie Ackles (Maguire).
A memorial visitation for David was held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 11am to 1pm with a memorial service that followed at 1pm at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Road, Flushing, Michigan 48433.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
