RODGERSON, Robert - age 91, died Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
Bob was born in 1931 to Nell and Thomas Rodgerson of Flint. He graduated from Flint Tech high school, and went on to apprentice and work as a tool and die engineer for General Motors for 43 years. He also served in the army during the Korean War.
He married Jeanette (Jan) (Zubek) Rodgerson in 1954 and they had four children. He retired from General Motors in 1991. Bob enjoyed fishing, and loved taking the camper with his wife across the country to explore interesting and beautiful places. He also loved being at home and, being a perfectionist, excelled at all of his varied interests. He designed and built a three-season porch, two greenhouses where he enjoyed growing orchids for many years, and a barn that once contained lawn, fishing equipment, and many other finds. Being a tool and die engineer, he also designed and built equipment such as tools for his lapidary interests, a wood lathe for his beautiful turned wood projects, tools for his wife's cake projects, and later, sewing projects. He enjoyed photography and kept himself busy building beautiful wood furniture, wood carving and burning, and was an encyclopedia of knowledge and support for his family. He was intelligent, talented, and extremely creative. He was dearly loved and respected, and will be greatly missed by his family.
Bob is survived by the love of his life, Jan, children: Diane (David) Guzman of Portland, Oregon, David (Kim) of Linden, and Tracey of Swartz Creek, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Douglas.
