Katherine “Katie” Largent, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 14, 2024. She was 79 years old.
Born on August 12, 1945, in Pontiac, MI, Katie was the daughter of Virgie and Marion Chandler. She graduated from Pontiac Northern High School in June of 1963. That same year on August 12th she turned 18 and was married 5 days later.
Katie’s deep faith in the Lord was a guiding light throughout her life. She was an active and dedicated member of Marimont Baptist Church in Pontiac, MI and Billings Missionary Church in Beaverton, MI. As a Sunday School teacher, she touched the lives of countless children with kindness and creativity.
Her love for children extended beyond the church, as she opened her heart and home as a foster parent to 16 children over a seven-year period. Additionally, Katie ran a successful daycare out of her home, nurturing and caring for multiple young ones.
Katie embraced various ventures, including her successful time as a Tupperware lady in the late 70s and early 80s, where her remarkable success earned her a car and numerous trips. She also ran a thriving pet grooming business, combining her love for animals with her entrepreneurial spirit.
Katie loved many things, this included Diet Coke, poodles, cats, and giraffes. However, her greatest love was reserved for her family, who were the center of her world.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Deb) Largent and daughters, Raquel and Aimee Largent; Grandchildren: Brandon (Whitney) Largent, Derrick (Courtney) Largent, and Jarred Largent; Great-grandchildren: Samuel, Julia, Ellie, and Alice. Her loving family will carry her spirit and memories in their hearts forever. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her
unwavering faith, vibrant personality, strength, stubbornness, and sass.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on October 19, 2024, at South Baptist Church, 4091 Van Slyke Rd, Flint, MI 48507. Visitation will begin at 11:30 am with a service starting at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Katherine's memory may be made to Quality Living Systems, P.O Box 7029, Flint, MI 48507, qls@cares.org. An organization providing residential and support services to individuals with intellectual disabilities. This reflects Katie’s commitment to ensuring the safe and compassionate care of her daughter, Aimee.
