KLINE, Keith Douglas, age 68, passed away on December 27, 2020, in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
Keith was born on December 17, 1952 in Flint, Michigan, to parents Shirley (King) Kline and Clifford Kline. A 1970 graduate of Flint Central High School and later of University of Michigan-Flint, Keith went on to work for the City of Flint, Genesee County and the State of Michigan. After decades in his roles as both a certified assessor and property tax appraiser, he retired in 2012 due to health issues.
Keith was special and will be so dearly missed by those who knew him. He was a fun-loving son, brother, father, grandfather and husband. Just one of the guys, Keith was the type of laid back and loyal friend you’d want to grab a beer and catch a Michigan football game with. Or in his wife Tinsi’s case, whom he married in November 2015, a nice glass of wine and a beach sunset! His sense of humor was famously dry and witty, with zingers and quick one-liners that always came at the perfect time. And he took a page from GQ with his impeccable style. It always showed off his beautiful, wide grin.
A star athlete on the track with high school records to his name, Keith maintained his love of running for decades to follow and never missed a Crim 10-mile race. He was an excellent skier who enjoyed hitting black diamond trails out west and up north, especially when he could be on the slopes with his daughter Kara. And he was an avid golfer who was always in for a round with his buddies, not to mention his wife on one of their many great trips to Aruba, Alaska, Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas and many, many points in between.
Keith is survived by his wife Tinsi, his mother Shirley of Mason, Michigan, his daughter Kara (Eric) Kline Buyze, of Rockford, Michigan and step-daughter Stephanie (Kyle) Koske McIntosh of Niceville, Florida; sister Shelley Kline of Spring Lake, Michigan, step-son John (Kathy) Heystek of St. John, Michigan and step-daughter Robyn (Jerod) Asbridge, of Flushing, Michigan; and his grandchildren; Lily and Zander Buyze, Ella and Josie Heystek, Jackson Bowden and bonus grandchildren of the heart; Rachel and Ethan Olds, and Adam Kovarik. He is preceded in death by his father Clifford Kline, brother Gary Kline and wife Nancy Heystek Kline.
The family invites you to join in celebrating Keith’s life with a visitation at Swartz Funeral Home from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, January 3, 2021. Due to current COVID-19 guidelines and regulations, only 25 people may gather in the room at one time and masks are required. A private service will be held for Keith the following day. The family is forever grateful for the outpouring of care and compassion from Pam, Jody and the outstanding staff at Nathan’s Place, The Medical Team Hospice, the numerous doctors and nurses at McLaren Flint Hospital, and of course, our many treasured friends and loved ones. Donations in Keith’s honor may be sent to The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint.
